Bermuda’s national men’s bowling squad officially launched their campaign on the global stage as the 2026 International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup got under way in Munich, Germany.
The island contingent stepped into the spotlight during Tuesday’s opening ceremony at Max Munich Bowling in Brunnthal, lining up alongside elite competitors representing nearly 50 federations from across the globe.
Anthony Hayward was handed the honour of carrying the Bermuda flag, while team-mate LeVinc Samuels carried the national sign during the curtain-raising parade of nations.
With the opening formalities concluded, the four-man squad—which also features experienced campaigners David Maycock and Lamar Richardson—shifted their focus directly to lane conditions during the official practice sessions.
The team will look to make their mark across both individual and team disciplines over the ten-day tournament. Samuels enters the competition with strong pedigree at this level, having progressed to the latter knockout rounds at the previous World Cup, while Hayward and the rest of the unit bring significant international experience to the lanes.
Competitive action begins on Wednesday, 14 October, with the start of the Men's Singles pool matches, leading into the team championships later in the week.
