Warwick Academy and Whitney Institute emerged with the silverware as Bermuda's middle school hockey season delivered a pulsating afternoon of tournament action.
Warwick Academy White secured the Middle School Girls title courtesy of a resolute 2-0 victory over Somersfield Academy in the final, while Whitney Institute produced a flawless campaign to sweep the six-team boys' round-robin competition.
After a tightly contested, goalless opening half in the girls' final, Warwick Academy White finally broke down a disciplined Somersfield Academy backline through second-half strikes from Guadalope Pena and Sianna Seth.
Somersfield had battled tenaciously throughout, but Penas opener shifted the momentum before Seth delivered the decisive second to put the result beyond doubt.
Warwick White had been forced to navigate a testing path to the final, edging past schoolmates Warwick Academy Blue 2-1 in a tense semi-final. Goals from Pena and Aria Samuels proved just enough to separate the two sister sides.
Somersfield Green booked their place in the showpiece event in more comfortable fashion, overcoming Saltus Grammar School 2-0 in their semi-final behind well-taken goals from Keira Wheeler and Charlotte Henderson.
In the Boys' Division, Whitney Institute delivered a masterclass in consistency, claiming the title with an unblemished 5-0 record across their six-team round-robin schedule.
The decisive clash arrived in Whitney's penultimate fixture against their fellow unbeaten contenders. In a tight, fiercely contested encounter, Whitney held their nerve to grind out a 2-1 victory, with Cyme Dowling and Julian Simmons providing the critical finishes.
Leading the charge across the day was Tikobi Robinson, whose sharp finishing yielded six goals in five appearances to cement Whitney's position at the summit of middle school hockey.
