Bermuda’s National Men’s Bowling team head out this week for the International Bowling Federation (IBF) Bowling World Cup in Munich Germany, where they will vie for the right to be crowned World Champions. The tournament runs from October 12th – 21st, 2026.
The team of LeVinc Samuels, Lamar Richardson, David Maycock and Anthony Hayward, Team Manager Steven Riley will be up against 48 countries in Singles match play and Team match play events.
Team Bermuda is hoping to improve on their last outing when they made the round of 16 in both the singles and team events at the last event in Hong Kong, China. Manager Riley knows the task ahead will be very difficult this time around as the format has gone from a total of 32 countries to 48 countries but remains optimistic on returning with some good results.
Lamar Richardson, says he is looking forward to this World Cup and competing at the highest level, and his main goal is staying focus and tust in his preparation, while helping the team achieve the best possible result.
Maycock’s focus will be making good shots which will enable everything else to fall in place, stay confident and have a great tournament with the team achieving a medal.
The team event which is the most prestigious event will be conducted using the baker system where each country will play head to head matches against teams in their pool to determine who qualifies for the round of 16.
All members of team Bermuda competed in this summer's CAC Games held in Santo Domingo and will use the experience gained there at the World Cup.
This event will be a bitter sweet moment for Riley as he will be retiring from the national team after 40 plus years of being a member of Team Bermuda.
