The Winnipeg Goldeyes survived a furious late rally to edge the Kansas City Monarchs 11-9 in 10 innings at Legends Field, with infielder Adam Hall etching his name further into the franchise record books.
Hall went 2-for-4 from the plate, scored two runs, and swiped his 45th base of the campaign in the fifth inning to take sole possession of third place on Winnipeg's all-time single-season stolen-base leaderboard, passing Adam Heisler’s 2015 mark.
After Saúl Garza launched a three-run home run to give Kansas City an early advantage, Winnipeg responded in the fourth when Hall and Ray-Patrick Didder drew walks ahead of Keshawn Lynch’s three-run blast to left field.
Roby Enríquez gave the Goldeyes the lead with a solo shot in the fifth, before a balk and Peyton Holt's sacrifice fly pushed the margin to 6-3 in the sixth.
The contest turned into a see-saw battle late on:
Monarchs fightback: Austin Callahan drove in two runs in the sixth and added an eighth-inning sacrifice fly to keep Kansas City within touching distance.
Late cushion: Hall singled and came home when Max Murphy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth, pushing Winnipeg ahead 9-6.
Ninth-inning drama: Kansas City forced extra innings when Hudson Head hit a sacrifice fly before Onix Vega crushed a two-run homer to tie the game at 9-9.
Winnipeg regained their composure in the top of the tenth. With Holt placed on second base, Kevin García laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner before Enríquez drove him home with a groundout. Ramón Bramasco then capped the scoring with a solo home run to left, restoring a two-run cushion that the Goldeyes bullpen protected to secure a hard-fought victory.
