It was a banner day for Bermuda volleyball in Tortola as both the men's and women's national teams secured impressive victories on Day 2 of the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Senior Volleyball Championship.
Bermuda's men recovered from an early deficit to silence the home crowd with a 3-1 triumph over the British Virgin Islands, while the women maintained their flawless start to the tournament with a hard-fought, straight-sets sweep of Dominica.
Men Show Resilience to Silence Host Nation
After suffering an opening-day defeat to Dominica, Bermuda's men produced the ideal response against tournament hosts BVI (18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20).
The home side seized early momentum, riding crowd support to take the opening frame 25-18. However, Bermuda regrouped effectively, finding their rhythm at the net to take the second set and level the contest.
From there, Bermuda seized total control. Dominating the transitions and tightening up their block defense, they claimed the third and fourth sets with authority to seal a vital four-set victory and get their championship campaign firmly back on track.
Women Survive Marathon Third Set to Sweep Dominica
In the women's draw, Bermuda followed up their stunning Day 1 upset over defending champions Saint Lucia by edging past Dominica 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 31-29).
While the overall scoreline suggested a routine victory, the reality on the court was a grueling battle defined by razor-thin margins. Both sides traded blows through two tightly contested 25-22 frames before delivering a breathless spectacle in the third.
Locked in a relentless cycle of deuce and match points, Bermuda displayed remarkable poise under pressure, eventually outlasting their opponents 31-29 in extra points to close out the match and make it back-to-back wins in Tortola.
