The Bermuda Ball Hockey Association play-off season shifted into high gear at the PCC Hockey Rink with a breathless double-header that produced sixteen goals and a pair of high-intensity encounters.
On a night where offensive clinical ness was the order of the day, Spine and Sport and CG emerged as the major victors in two very different contests.
Spine & Sport 6 Positive Image Dental 3
The opening match saw Spine and Sport deliver a statement performance with a 6-3 victory over Positive Image Dental. The foundation for the win was laid during a rampant first period, where Johnny Talbot, Curran Trenouth, and Jake Fenske all found the net to establish a commanding three-goal cushion.
Positive Image Dental attempted a spirited fightback in the second frame through goals from Louis Sujir and Chris Allington, but Talbot’s second of the night and a strike from Christopher Merritt ensured the momentum remained firmly with the league leaders.
Talbot would eventually complete a superb hat-trick in the final period, and while Sujir managed to add his second for Positive Image Dental, the result was never in doubt as Spine and Sport cruised to a comfortable win.
BDA Spirits 3 CG 4
The night’s second fixture proved to be a far more cagey affair, as CG edged out BDA Spirits in a seven-goal thriller. CG seized the initiative in a chaotic first period, with Andrew Leavy, Jeremy Estey, and Dallas Montgomery all finding the target, while Andrew Bonner provided the solitary response for the Spirits.
A resurgent BDA Spirits pushed hard in the second period, with Jeff Loper narrowing the gap, only for Jeff Morash to restore CG’s multi-goal lead. Despite a late surge in the third period that saw Ryan Marshall find the net to set up a grandstand finish, CG’s defensive unit held firm under immense pressure.
The 4-3 victory provides CG with a vital platform as the play-off race continues to intensify, leaving BDA Spirits to rue a series of missed opportunities in the closing moments.
