The latest round of softball action at the Michael Preece Diamond produced a relentless display of offensive fire-power as teams combined for a staggering 43 runs across two high-octane encounters.
In the opening clash of the evening, Platano Power issued a significant statement of intent with a commanding 16-3 victory over Aresc Performance. The contest was defined by a clinical performance from Henry Llanes, who proved nearly impossible to contain at the plate. Llanes went three for four on the night, headlined by two towering home runs and four runs batted in, spearheading an attack that took full advantage of every defensive lapse. While Aresc Performance struggled to keep pace, Gendi Durand provided a bright spark in defeat, maintaining a perfect record with three hits from three appearances and adding an RBI to the tally.
The scoring momentum showed no signs of slowing down in the second fixture as Ragga Muffins edged out Mike’s Trucking in a competitive 14-10 shootout. Although the margin was closer, the Ragga Muffins relied on explosive moments to pull away in the crucial stages. Mark Steede provided the highlight of the game, making his solitary hit count in spectacular fashion with a grand-slam style impact, finishing with a home run and four RBIs to his name.
Mike’s Trucking remained a persistent threat throughout the seven innings, largely thanks to the efforts of Anthony Bailey. Reaching base consistently, Bailey went three for four from the plate, including a well-struck triple and two RBIs, but his efforts were ultimately not enough to overhaul the deficit. As the dust settled on a frantic night of base-running, the spectators were left reflecting on a showcase of power hitting that has set a high bar for the remainder of the season.
