Bermuda Squads Announced for 2025 US Open Championships

IslandStats.com
Bermuda will have strong representation at the prestigious 2025 USA Volleyball Open National Championship, with the Devil’s Isle VC squad set to compete in the BB Division of the tournament. The event, which brings together elite adult volleyball teams from across the United States and around the world, will be held in Denver, Colorado, from May 26th to 28th.

The U.S. Open is a highly regarded annual competition, and the Devil’s Isle VC team will be showcasing their talent and determination on a significant national stage. They will face top-level clubs and athletes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The coaching staff of Devil’s Isle VC have expressed their excitement ahead of the tournament in Denver. They believe the team travelling to Colorado is strong and well-prepared to compete. This year’s squad features several new faces who are seen as complementary additions to the existing team, providing increased depth on the court and the bench, and offering a wider range of tactical options.

“We’re incredibly proud of this group of athletes and all the hard work they’ve put in,” said Kyle Hamilton, Coach of Devil’s Isle VC. “This is a great opportunity to test ourselves against strong competition and represent Bermuda on the international volleyball scene.”

Reflecting on their preparations, Mike Smith, Head Coach of the Ace Boyz VC highlighted the team’s focus on technical aspects following a strong showing at the ECVA’s in October. “We realized that we have the potential to be a very technically sound team and have spent this season tightening that up. We have focused a lot of time dialling in our ball control, blocking, and coverage on defence. We’ve also spent a considerable amount of time working with our Middle and Pin Hitters, on offensive transition, and strengthening our setter-hitter connection. We’re happy to report that the tedious work has paid off. With our passing percentage much higher, we are able to run a more well-rounded offence. The Middles are getting into the game more and our Pin Hitters are as effective as ever.”

Coach Smith also gave a shout-out to the entire Men’s National Team for their hard work and dedication in preparing the squad. He acknowledged the immense discipline required to focus on the technical aspects of the game.

Finally, the coach extended a special mention to Olek Rymon-Lipinski, whose dedication and hard work throughout the year have been an inspiration. Unfortunately, an ACL injury will prevent him from travelling with the team to Denver, and his presence will be missed. The entire squad wishes him a speedy recovery.
