Bermuda’s Women’s National Field Hockey team emphatically secured their second victory of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games Qualifying Tournament campaign with a resounding 9-0 win over Panama. Facing a Panama side yet to register a win in the tournament, Bermuda delivered a dominant performance at the National Sports Centre in Mexico.

Bermuda wasted no time in asserting their authority. In the 6th minute, Abigail Brewer dispossessed a Panamanian defender, raced towards the byline, and delivered a precise cross for Georgia Harris to slot home the opening goal.
The lead was doubled just eight minutes later when Jessica Hollis sent a dangerous ball into the penalty area, which was expertly finished by Megan Troake.
Troake continued her stellar performance, adding her second goal in the 23rd minute, converting from a well-drilled penalty corner. Just two minutes later, she completed a rapid hat-trick, again capitalising on a defensive error before beating the Panama goalkeeper.
Hollis then got her name on the scoresheet, scoring Bermuda’s fifth goal from another penalty corner in the 29th minute, giving Bermuda a commanding 5-0 lead heading into the half-time break.
The second half saw no let-up in Bermuda’s attacking intent. Substitute Mackenzie Heaney extended the lead to 6-0 in the 35th minute, converting yet another penalty corner. Ten minutes later, Brewer grabbed a goal of her own, making it 7-0 with a well-taken field goal. Grace Lightowler joined the scoresheet in the 52nd minute, firing home from a penalty corner to make it 8-0.
And to cap off a sensational performance, Megan Troake scored her fourth goal of the match right on the stroke of full time, sealing a comprehensive 9-0 victory for Bermuda. This emphatic win significantly boosts Bermuda’s chances of advancing in the CAC Games Qualifying Tournament.
