The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League Play-offs continued with another night of intense action at the PCC Hockey Rink, where tight, single-goal margins were the order of the day, and one series required the drama of overtime to determine a winner. With the dust settling, one series now has a clear leader, while two others are finely balanced at 1-1.
Positive Image Dental 2 Hamilton Princess 3 - Hamilton Princess lead Series 2-0
Hamilton Princess moved to within touching distance of the next round, taking a 2-0 series lead after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Positive Image Dental.
Positive Image Dental drew first blood in the opening period courtesy of Ronnie Dzurus. Hamilton Princess responded to level the score at 1-1 with a goal from John Portelli, before Riley Latour put them ahead at 2-1.
The second period saw Positive Image Dental restore parity through Brett Williamson, setting up a tense final period. Ultimately, Kevin Albrech scored the decisive lone goal in the third period, securing the win for Hamilton Princess.
Appleby 1 ACT 2 - Series Tied 1-1
ACT fought back from a deficit to edge Appleby 2-1, levelling their best-of-three series at 1-1. Appleby took the lead in the first period thanks to a goal from Rob Osborne.
However, ACT responded in the second period, Mike Travis finding the net to make it 1-1. Travis then proved to be the hero for ACT, scoring the winning goal in the third period to force a deciding game in the series.
Frontier 3 BDA Spirits 4- Series Tied 1-1
The most dramatic encounter of the night saw BDA Spirits edge out Frontier 4-3 in a thrilling overtime decider, tying their series at 1-1.
BDA Spirits came out firing in the first period, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead with two goals from Sean Mcnulty and a single strike from Brett Sherriffs. The second period was a scoreless stalemate, but Frontier mounted a remarkable comeback in the third period.
Tom Duggan scored twice, and Chris Jackson added another, drawing the game level at 3-3 and sending it into the extra frame. In the tense overtime period, Robbie Bailey popped up with the crucial winning goal for BDA Spirits, ensuring the series will go to a deciding third game.
The latest round of play-off action underscores the competitive nature of the Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League, with tight games and a series heading to overtime ensuring plenty of excitement for the fans.
