The London Knights, featuring Blake Montgomery, began their second-round Ontario Hockey League (OHL) playoff series with a dominant 6-3 victory over the Erie Otters on Thursday. The game was played inside the Canada Life Place Arena.
The Knights' offensive star was Denver Barkey, who delivered a stellar performance, scoring a hat-trick and contributing three assists. Barkey's impressive start to the playoffs continues, with eight goals and seven assists for a total of 15 points in just five games.
London's scoring was not limited to Barkey, however. Oliver Bonk, Cam Allen, and Landon Sim also found the back of the net, showcasing the Knights' balanced attack. Easton Cowan provided strong support with four assists.
The Knights' goaltender, Austin Elliott, played a crucial role in the victory, stopping 24 of the 27 shots he faced.
This win comes after London's successful first-round campaign, where they swept the Owen Sound Attack in four games.
For the Erie Otters, the goalscorers were Dylan Edwards (who also had an assist), Wesley Royston, and Pano Fimis. Otters netminder Noah Erliden made 30 saves on 35 shots.
The London Knights' victory in this opening game of the second round puts them in a strong position as they continue their playoff journey.
