Blake Montgomery's two-goal performance proved crucial as the London Knights withstood a furious comeback from the Owen Sound Attack to secure a 6-4 victory at a packed Bayshore.
The Knights looked set for a comfortable win after a dominant first period, storming to a 4-0 lead. Montgomery, continuing his impressive scoring streak, added the third goal with a clinical finish at the 18:54 mark, his 16th of the season.
London held a commanding 17-5 advantage in shots after the first 20 minutes, leaving the home crowd stunned. However, the Attack roared back into the game with three unanswered goals in the second period, setting the stage for a tense final frame.
Owen Sound completed their comeback early in the third, tying the game at 4-4 and silencing the London bench. But the Knights regained their composure, with Cam Allen's shot deflecting off Gabriel Smith's skate to put them back in front.
Montgomery then delivered the decisive blow, scoring his second of the night after a dazzling display of skill from Denver Barkey. Barkey, weaving through the Owen Sound zone, set up Montgomery for a clinical finish that sealed the victory for the Knights.
Despite the final scoreline, the Attack can take pride in their spirited comeback. However, Montgomery's heroics and the Knights' resilience ensured they left the Bayshore with two points, extending their impressive run of form.
