The London Knights, led by a stellar performance from Blake Montgomery and Denver Barkey, snapped the Windsor Spitfires' eight-game winning streak with a convincing 5-1 victory at Canada Life Place.
Montgomery and Barkey each tallied three points, while goaltender Aleksei Medvedev stood tall with 40 saves to earn first-star honours. Medvedev's heroics between the pipes frustrated the Spitfires throughout the game, allowing the Knights to unleash an offensive onslaught in the third period.
Montgomery, an Ottawa Senators draft pick, reached the 30-point mark on the season with two goals and an assist. His first goal, a display of exceptional skill and composure, opened the scoring in the second period. After Denver Barkey dispossessed a Spitfires forward, Montgomery collected the puck, navigated through the defence, and unleashed a powerful shot to give the Knights the lead.
Windsor's Ilya Protas levelled the score on a power play, but Montgomery responded with another moment of brilliance. With just seconds remaining in the second period, he collected the puck along the boards, cut towards the net, and wristed a shot past Spitfires goaltender Costanzo to restore London's advantage.
The Knights dominated the final period, adding three more goals to secure the victory. Barkey, who has been on fire with 14 points in his last four games, capped off the scoring with a goal assisted by Montgomery on a 2-on-1 break.
This victory marks the Knights' seventh win in their last eight games, demonstrating their strong form and resilience. With Medvedev providing a solid foundation in net and offensive weapons like Montgomery and Barkey firing on all cylinders, the Knights are emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the league.
