Montgomery Shines as Knights' Explodes on the Road

IslandStats.com
Even without high-scoring forwards Easton Cowan and Kasper Halttunen, the London Knights' offensive juggernaut showed no signs of slowing down, burying a staggering 21 goals in three games during their eastern Ontario road trip.

The defending OHL champions kicked off their road trip with a 10-3 demolition of the Ottawa 67's in front of 3,223 fans at TD Place. The Knights' depth was on full display, with Sam Dickinson (two goals, five points), Denver Barkey (one goal, five points), and Sam O'Reilly (two goals, three points) leading the offensive onslaught. Their performance served as a reminder to Canadian world junior coach Dave Cameron that the Knights are loaded with talent beyond just Cowan and Oliver Bonk.

Senators prospect Blake Montgomery also got in on the action, scoring a highlight-reel penalty shot goal. Montgomery showcased his playmaking abilities as well, setting up Jesse Nurmi for a beautiful goal with a cross-ice feed.

Montgomery's penalty shot came early in the third period, after having his stick slashed in half by Ottawa's Luca Pinelli. With the game already well in hand, Montgomery calmly converted the penalty shot, adding to the Knights' already impressive goal tally.

The Knights' offensive explosion continued throughout the road trip, demonstrating their depth and firepower even without two of their top scorers. With Montgomery and other key players stepping up, the Knights have sent a clear message to the rest of the OHL: they are the team to beat.
