Pan American Women’s Challenge Final Day

Guyana 2 Bermuda 1


In a thrilling encounter at the National Sports Center, Guyana’s Women’s Field Hockey team showcased their resilience by overcoming an early deficit to defeat Bermuda with a scoreline of 2 - 1 in the Bronze Medal match of the Pan American Women’s Challenge.

The match kicked off with Bermuda taking the lead in the 23rd minute, courtesy of a well-executed Penalty Corner converted by Georgia Harris. However, Guyana quickly regrouped, determined to turn the tide.

In the 32nd minute, Madison Fenandes leveled the score for Guyana, capitalizing on another Penalty Corner opportunity. The tension on the field intensified as both teams fought tooth and nail for supremacy.

Ultimately, it was Abosaide Cadogan who emerged as the hero for Guyana. In the 51st minute, Cadogan’s precise Field Goal secured victory for her team, clinching the Bronze Medal.

This hard-fought battle showcased the spirit of sportsmanship and determination, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Mexico 2 (4) Paraguay 2 (2)


The Final of the Pan American Women’s Challenge came down to a Penalty Stroke shoot-out at the National Sports Center, with Mexico crowned Champions.

Paraguay would take the lead in the 13th minute when Paula Pistilli scored from a Penalty Stroke, Mexico would draw level in the 14th minute when Maribel Acosta scored from a Penalty Corner, one minute later it was 2 - 1 to Mexico when Acosta scored her second goal of the game from another Penalty Corner. In the 29th minute Paraguay drew level at 2 - 2 with a Penalty Corner goal from María Catebra.

Neither team would be able to beat the other goalkeeper for the remainder of the match, sending it to the Shoot-out.

In the shoot-out, Mexico would score 4 times, with Paraguay converting twice.
