Pan American Women’s Challenge Day Six

A double header brought an end to the Round Robin portion of the Pan American Women’s Challenge at the National Sports Center, with 7 goals scored, and Bermuda advancing to the Bronze Medal match.

Mexico 4 Guyana 0

In the opener Mexico made it four wins in a row after they defeated Guyana 4 - 0.

Ximena Noria gave Mexico the lead in the 12th minute when she scored from a Penalty Corner, the tournament leading scorer Grecia Mendoza doubled the Mexico lead in the 42nd minute with a Field Goal.

In the 54th minute Arlette Estrada made it 3 - 0 to Mexico with a Field Goal, and then in the 59th minute a Field Goal off the stick of Nathalia NAVA made it 4 - 0.

Bermuda 2 Brazil 1

Picture it: The sun, like a golden coin, descending lazily behind the National Sports Center. The air crackles with anticipation—the final Round Robin match of the Pan American Women’s Challenge was about to unfold. Bermuda, the underdogs, stand on the brink, their hearts pounding in unison.

The Battle Began with Brazil, formidable and unyielding, striking first. In the 18th minute, their captain, Mayara Eiko, launches a thunderous Field Goal.

And then, like a dormant volcano stirring, Bermuda awakens. Mallory Towlson, charged forward. In the 38th minute, she converted from a Penalty Corner as the stadium erupts—fans leap from their seats, flags waving, voices hoarse. Suddenly, everyone knows: Bermuda isn’t here to play; they’re here to fight.

But the story isn’t complete without Jessica Hollis. In the 46th minute, with the tension thick enough to slice, she steps up to take a Penalty Stroke. The crowd holds its breath, and with the fate of Bermuda hanging in the balance—boom! The ball rockets into the net, and Hollis pumps the air, as the scoreboard shifts: Bermuda leads!

The final whistle blows, and Bermuda clings to that precious 2-1 lead. Their victory dance is wild, unbridled—an explosion of joy. They’ve defied expectations, silenced doubters, and etched their names in sporting lore.
