Mexico and Brazil were next to take to the pitch as the Pan American Women’s Field Hockey Challenge continued at the National Sports Center.
The match saw Angela De Silva the Bermuda Umpire take charge of her second match in the Challenge.
On a beautiful Bermuda evening, Mexico picked up where they left off finding the back of the net, they would go ahead in the 5th minute when captain Maribel Acosta scored from a Penalty Corner.
Brazil would draw level in the 30th minute when captain Mayara Eiko scored a Field Goal, Mexico would go back in front in the 43rd minute when the tournament leading goalscorer Grecia Mendoza scored her 4th made it 2 - 1 from a Penalty Stroke.
Dariana Cardiel scored her second goal of the tournament in the 57th minute to make it 3 - 1 to Mexico who now lead the standings with 6 points.
The sun dipped low over the National Sports Center, casting a warm glow on the astroturf as the Pan American Women’s Field Hockey Challenge resumed, and this time, the spotlight fell on Mexico and Brazil—a clash of skill, strategy, and national pride.
Angela De Silva, the Bermuda Umpire, stepped onto the field. Her second match in the Challenge awaited—a responsibility she bore with unwavering professionalism. The players, eyes sharp, sticks at the ready, knew that De Silva and Mariana Reydo from Argentina’s decisions would shape the contest.
As the crowd settled into their seats, Mexico wasted no time. In the 5th minute, captain Maribel Acosta stepped up to score from a Penalty Corner. The hush of anticipation gave way to a collective gasp as the ball sailed into the net.
Brazil’s, resilient and disciplined, fought back and in the 30th minute, captain Mayara Eiko orchestrated a precise move to score a Field Goal that drew them level.
But Mexico had a secret weapon—their prolific striker, Grecia Mendoza. In the 43rd minute, she stood over a Penalty Stroke. Mendoza’s flick was poetry, a goal that gave her her 4th goal in tournament putting Mexico ahead, 2 - 1.
As the clock ticked toward the final whistle, Dariana Cardiel seized her moment, in the 57th minute, Cardiel had a swift maneuver, a deft finish. The net bulged, and Mexico celebrated a 3 - 1 lead.
