The Pan American Women’s Challenge continued at the National Sports Center.
In the opener on Day Two, the two undefeated teams Paraguay, and Guyana took to the pitch and they finished in a 0 - 0 draw.
Mexico 5 Bermuda 0
Bermuda went down for a second time in as many matches in the Pan American Women's Challenge 5 - 0 to Mexico at the National Sports Center.
The air was thick with anticipation as the Bermuda Field Hockey team prepared to take on their formidable opponents from Mexico. The crowd who braved the elements, had their cheers echoing against the stadium walls.
The referee’s whistle pierced the air, and the match began.
Just 16 minutes into the game, Mexico’s star forward, Grecia Mendoza, weaved through Bermuda’s defense and cracked the ball, sending it soaring past the diving goalkeeper to make it 1 - 0.
Mexico doubled their lead in the 27th minute as Dariana Cardiel scored a Field Goal to have Mexico celebrating a 2 - 0 lead.
Arlette Estrada Mexico’s midfield dynamo, finished with clinical precision to make it 3 - 0 in the 32nd minute.
Mendoza would add her second Field Goal of the match in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 4 - 0,
The Final blow came from a Penalty Corner in the 40th minute off the stick of Mendoza as she completed her hat-trick and make the final score 5 - 0.
As the final whistle blew the scoreline was one thing, but a tale of passion, determination, and the unyielding spirit of Bermuda’s Field Hockey team. Even in defeat, they found inspiration to keep pushing forward, their eyes fixed on the next match, the next chance to rewrite their story.
