Last game of Bermuda’s Pool B Division of the 2017 World Ball Hockey Championships was set to decide who will join France in the next phase.
Team Great Britain needed a win in regulation, any other result would give the ticket to Bermuda.
Tom Worthington-White put Bermuda ahead early in the game, but Britain made it even after one. Then they added some more goals with power plays and managed to build up a four goal lead with much help from hat-trick hero Chrissy Morrison. Bermuda got goals from Jeremy Estey and Christopher Merritt, but they couldn't crawl back and left the 2nd spot for Great Britain.
Chrissy Morrison, forward for team Great Britain said, “It was a very tough game. Bermuda is one of the best teams in our pool, so it was very tough. I think our power play and special teams in general was the key to winning. The hattrick feels really good.
Worthington-White, said, “We are disappointed right now. I mean we thought we will do better and hoped we will go to the next level. We lost the game in the second period. They put it on and had some good energy and also some nice bounces. They capitalised on few chances that they had and that was the turning point of the game. We are disappointed with our result in the group, we were looking to win the group, we thought we could and we had a team to do it. But we will come back again and battle in the next game.”
Bermuda finished the Group in 3rd place with 5 points.
