IslandStats.com
Maha Clarke and her Queens University of Charlotte Field Hockey teammates were at Bellarmine University this afternoon for their first road contest of the season, falling 5-2 to a program that completed the 2015 season ranked 17th in the nation. With the loss, Queens now sits at 2-1 on the season while Bellarmine University remain undefeated on the year at 3-0.

Queens held their own in today's game with Bellarmine University as junior midfielder Kayleigh Lawrence of Queens struck first, putting a point on the board for the visiting team in the 10th minute. Lawrence would rebound a saved shot to find the back of the cage. However, Bellarmine University would soon respond in the 15th minute to knot the game at 1-1. They then found their rhythm on the offensive end putting two more points on the board to head into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Bellarmine quickly added a goal at the start of the second as Aimee Ilgenfritz put one in the cage in the 36th minute to give the home team a 4-1 lead. Queens, not backing down, would find an answer in the 45th coming from the stick of Lawrence once again. This time sophomore midfielder Mazvita Mtisi was awarded an assist on the score. Unfortunately for Queens, that would be the final goal scored for them before the end of regulation as Bellarmine was able to go ahead 5-2 before the final horn sounded.

Queens took four shots, all of which were on goal. Bellarmine University posted 19 shots with 15 being on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Miranda Childers completed her day in the cage with a season high 10 saves.
