New England Whalers 4 Houston Aeros 5
In the opener the Houston Aeros took a two goal lead into the final period and was able to hang on for the 5 – 4 win over the New England Whalers.
The Houston Aeros got two goals apiece from Chris Grantier and Ian Beaudoin, while David Provost added the other. Cameron Poland found the back of the net twice for the New England Whalers, with Andrew Markus and Jeffrey Ingelman both adding a goal each.
Phoenix Roadrunners 10 Indianapolis Racers 12
This game saw a see-saw battle end with the Indianapolis Racers coming away with a 12 – 10 win over the Phoenix Roadrunners.
JM Tremblay and Chris Merritt both scored 4 goals each to lead the Indianapolis Racers to victory, Scott Fergusson scored twice, with Mark Heintzman and Shane McKay both added a goal each. Owen Siese and Jeremy Estey scored hat-tricks for the Phoenix Roadrunners, Warren Miller, Ryan Wilson, Daniel Bordage and Shannon Gosse all added a goal each.
