Bermuda’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier against Cayman Island did not go their way in Cayman Islands as the host record a Big Win 47 - 11.
Eight minutes into the game Morgan Shelver gave Cayman Islands the lead when he went over for a Try and with the Conversion converted Cayman held a 7 – 0 lead, but from the kick off Bermuda pinned Cayman Island to their line, but had to settle for a Penalty from Tommy Edwards to make it 7 – 3.
Minutes later it was 14 – 3 when Mikey Wilson cut through the Bermuda defense and scored under the post and the Conversion was good. Edwards would pull Bermuda within 8 when he kicked his second Penalty of the game making it 14 – 6.
Wilson scored his second try of the game and Shelver kicked the Conversion as Cayman Islands took full control of the game leading 21 – 6, minutes later Cayman Islands would go ahead 28 – 6 when Wilson made a break and Paul Westin went over for the Try, with the Conversion being good.
The teams went to the break with Cayman Islands leading 28 – 6.
Early in the Second Half, Cayman Islands extended their lead to 33-6 with a try, but the Conversion attempt was missed, Cayman Islands was then reduced to 10 men when Saviriano Tabuaniwere was shown the yellow card and received a two minute sin bin infraction.
Justin Wight would then give Cayman Islands a 32 point lead when he went over for a Try and when the Conversion was kicked the score would move to 40-6.
Cayman Islands in complete control of the game was able to score yet another Try under the post and with the Conversion good it moved the score to 47 – 6, but Bermuda would get another Try when Guerhardt Lamprecht dragged two Cayman Islands players over the line in the corner, but Edwards’ Conversion attempt was not good making the score 47 – 11.
Cayman Islands’ Mikey Wilson was named Man of the Match.
