Tyler Buterfield finished 10th competing in the Ironman Cozumel, Butterfield clocked a time of 9:05:35. Stefan Schmid from Germany was crowned the 2015 Ironman Los Cozumel Champion with a time of 8:12:28.
Barrett Brandon managed to create a bit of a gap for himself in the 2.4 mile swim and was first out of the water in 43:18. Ivan Rista of Italy was 34 seconds back and was followed closely by Patrik Nillson of Sweden and Butterfield of Bermuda. Just seven seconds separated the three pros who sat second, third, and fourth. The rest of the field was three minutes or more behind the leader.
At the 54km mark of the 180km Bike it was Brandon and Nillson riding just seconds apart and leading the way. Defending champion Michael Weiss was in third just over a minute back of the two leaders and Stefan Schmid of Germany was right behind Weiss. Ultimately it was Schmid posting the fastest bike split with a time of 4:26:56. He was followed by Weiss and Nillson, Butterfield clocked a time of 4:58:58.
On the 42.2km Run Course it was Schmid and Nillson leading the way at the 15k mark with Weiss in third over three minutes back of the two leaders. It was Schmid outlasting everyone and taking first place, while Butterfield recorded a time of 3:13:40.
