Countdown to CARIFTA Triathlon & Aquathlon

As we continue the countdown to the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon which will take place September 28th & 29th in Tobago will see Bermuda represented by 20 athletes.

www.islandstats.com daily will bring you bios of the Bermuda team members, today the final day will see Ashley Irby and Jessie Marshall highlighted.

Ashley Irby – 16-19 Girls Aquathlon

Irby has represented Bermuda in CARIFTA/ CCCAN/CISC SWIMMING (2013-2016) and is a multi- medalist in Freestyle events. She is the 2018 15-17 year age group National Open Water champion. Ashley has also represented Bermuda in CARIFTA Games (track) 2018 (4th in 1500m) and has won the Bermuda Front Street Mile 7 years in succession (2012-2018) and is a record holder in the middle school age group. Irby competes locally in track, cross country and road races and has won many races and titles throughout the years. Irby is a Youth and Sports Ambassador for Bermuda and received the Special Recognition Award in Track and Field in April, 2018. Her most recent International achievement is coming 3rd in a XC mile race this August against top State Champion High School runners. Aquathlon is an exciting new challenge for Irby and she has thoroughly enjoyed the training and being part of the team.

Jessie Marshall – 16-19 Girls Aquathlon

Marshall is an accomplished runner and triathlete. She is the 2018 Interschool Track and Field U16 Champion Girl, the Bermuda National Track and Field U17 1500m female champion and the 2017 Bermuda National Athletics Association Cross Country series Under 17 Girls champion. In April, Marshall represented Bermuda at Carifta Games in the Bahamas competing in the U17 1500m. Marshall is also the Bermuda Female Junior Triathlete of the Year. She has won many local triathlon races and is looking forward to competing in Tobago.
