World Triathlon Launches New Guidelines for Young Triathletes

IslandStats.com
It was last week Thursday when we reported that Flora Duffy is scheduled to compete in PTO 2020 Championship, today www.islandstats.com brings you new World Triathlon event guidelines for young triathletes.

As part of its ongoing commitment to bringing as many young people into the sport as possible, World Triathlon has launched new event guidelines dedicated to meeting the specific needs of youngsters up to the age of 19. With the direct input of 10 National Federations, they have been designed to create the support and guidance for organizers to enable young people to compete safely at all ages as well as prepare them for the possible step up to the international competition in triathlon and related multisports.

Tackling key themes of event distances, safety, and welfare and specific considerations relating to each of the swim-bike-run segments, the document embraces the flexibility required to meet the specific needs of different territories around the globe while keeping the central themes of safety, encouragement, and nurturing young enthusiasm.

Created by members of the World Triathlon Coaches, Medical and Technical Committees, Development and Sports Department staff, the guidelines emphasize the encouragement of fair play in young people, the balance between participation and competition and considers the best ways to adapt the formats for children as young as 6 years-old to enjoy.
