Bermuda to Host Three ITU Events

Following the ITU Executive Board meeting that was held in Spain, the International Triathlon Union (ITU) confirmed the locations of multiple World Championship events.

As the Minister of Tourism Michael Fahy announced Bermuda has won the bid to host Three of the International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series Events.

Bermuda has been chosen to host a event in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Fahy said, “I have some very exciting news to share with the people of Bermuda.

“We found out this week that Bermuda has been chosen to host not one, not two, but three International Triathlon Union World Series events in April 2018, 2019, and 2020.”

“This is a first for Bermuda, and a huge win for all of us,” said Minister Fahy, who added that events are expected to bring approximately 1,200 competitors for each event, and the races “will be broadcast around the world.”

Bermuda Delegation was Bermuda Triathlon Association President Jennifer Gunn, Vice President Patty Petty and Board Member Aaron Smith, ITU World Champion Flora Duffy, Minister of Tourism, Senator Michael Fahy, Phillip Schmidt, who is the Event Coordinator, Bermuda Tourism Authority Chief Product and Experience Development Officer Pat Phillip-Fairn and Marketing Executive Christian Toetzke.
