Steve Smith IslandStats.com On the final day of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Cozumel, nearly 1400 Age Group athletes hit the island streets of Cozumel on the hunt for World Championship Titles in the standard distance.
In the Standard Olympic Distance championships sees competitors cover a 1500m Swim, 40K Bike and a 10K Run course.
Bermuda had a trio of competitors in the Women’s 40 - 49 Age Group, Rebecca Shepard finished 37th covering the course in a time of 2:33:28, while Louise Wells recorded a time of 2:42:06 that put her across the line 49th and the 61st spot in the Age Group went to Sarah Ruberry who was clocked across the line in 2:56:15.
Shepherd was out of the water in 26.30, she then clocked 1:11.32 on the Bike Course before closing out with a time of 51.29 on the Run Course.
Wells clocked a time of 30.52 on the Swim, she was then clocked at 1:12.45 on the Bike Course before closing out with a time of 53.57 on the Run Course.
Ruberry exited the water in a time of 36.05, she completed the Bike Course in a time of 1:19.06, before closing out with a time of 55.57.
Steve Smith crossed the line 32nd competing in the Men’s 40 - 44 Age Group with a time of 2:13.41. Smith was out of the Water in a time of 22.42, before clocking a time of 1:00.33 on the Bike course before closing out with a time of 46.51 on the Run Course.
Bermuda’s final competitor was Maria Duffy who finished 18th in the Women’s 60 - 64 Age Group Division. Duffy clocked a time of 1:01.03 on the Swim, 1:20.20 on the Bike Course and 1:00.07 on the Run Course to clock an overall time of 3:27:54.
