Day Three of the 2023 Gnosis Bermuda National Squash Championships at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association Club in Devonshire, saw plenty of upsets.
In the Men’s Open, there were two upsets of Anaya Smith defeating the experienced Nick Kyme 11-2, 11-6, 1-1 Retired, and Kristian Muldoon defeating young superstar Taylor Carrick 11-4, 11-5, 13-11.
In the Men’s B draw there were two monstrous games between Mark James and Malcolm Woodley, and Eli Carpol vs Andrew Bonner both going to tie breaks in the fifth. Carpol won his match 11-7, 7-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9, while Woodley won his match 7-11, 11-4, 11-7, 8-11, 14-12, both these results were also considered upsets.
There was also an upset in the Men’s Veterans Over 60 Division where Tony Riker beat the #1 seed and previous Club Champ winner Colin Alexander 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8.
