Bermuda Footballers help Buckswood Win ESFA Cup

Just days after bringing you coverage of the Bermuda Football Association’s Youth Awards that was and continues to be ignored by the printing press, today we bring you some of Bermuda’s youth competing in England.

On a day when things went all wrong in getting to the field, Buckswood School was crowned the ESFA Playstation Under 15 Small Schools' Cup Champions following a Sudden-Death Penalty Shoot-Out.

The Buckswood bus was caught in traffic, and then the driver attempted a shortcut that did not go well eight, the start of the match was delayed for 40 minutes to allow the Buckswood School team to warm up.

Buckswood School had five Bermuda players in Kaej Stovell, Kai Sampson, Chance Eve, Skyler Young and Ah-Najae Saunders in their squad.

After a scoreless first half, Brooke House College took the lead in the 46th minute, when young was beaten to his right.

Eve equalized for Buckswood School in the 61st minute, he was played through and calmly placed the ball past an advancing goalkeeper to make it 1 – 1.

Buckswood School would find themselves down 2 – 1 in the 71st minute when Young was once again beaten to his right. Buckswood School would get the equalizer in the final minute when a free-kick was headed into the net by a Brooke House College defender.

The match was then to be decided on Kicks from the Penalty Mark.

Young saved the first Brooke House College penalty going to his left.

Saunders took the Buckswood School's third penalty and scored to make it 2 – 1.

With the score tied at 3 – 3, Eve took the Buckswood School's fifth penalty and scored although the goalkeeper got a hand to it. Brooke House College scored their fifth as well to make it 4 – 4.

It then went down to sudden death, Young saved the first Brooke House College penalty after had their first penalty saved.

Stovell took the second sudden-death penalty and had his penalty saved and then the Brook House College player hit the crossbar in his attempt.

Buckwood School would finally score the first sudden-death penalty on their third attempt before the Brooke House College third penalty taker kicked his attempt over the bar.
