Victoria Davis

Victoria Davis and her Algonquin Thunder Women's Soccer teammates defeated the Centennial Colts 1 – 0 at Progress Turf Field.

The last time Centennial defeated Algonquin was a 2-1 win in the OCAA Championship Bronze Medal game in penalty kicks on Oct. 27, 2012.

Thunder forward Andrianna Dmulchalsky scored the only goal of the game. Centennial's Sabrina Rizzo stopped 16 out of 17 shots while Algonquin's Kirsten Skinner made 11 saves for her fourth clean sheet of the season.

However, Rizzo kept the margin at one with a spectacular sequence in which she made four saves in the 68th minute and in the 89th minute, punching a high strike over the net. Colts midfielder Kayla Lui had the best chance for the home side in the 62nd minute but her attempt went high as Algonquin held on for the victory.

Meanwhile Ryan Parris and his Acadia Axemen Men’s Soccer teammates won by five as they blank the Memorial University Seahawks.

The Axemen found their rhythm early, firing plenty of shots before one from midfielder Parris beat the goalkeeper for his second of the season. Parris' goal would be the game winner and earned him the Subway Player of the Game award.
