Nolan Scores in North Texas Win

IslandStats.com
Aaliyah Nolan and her North Texas Women’s Soccer teammates secured its 23rd consecutive winning season with a 4-0 win over UT-San Antonio at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

Led by junior Lauryn Bruffett's two goals, North Texas took a commanding 4-0 lead at the half and never looked back.

"I'm very proud of the way my team played this weekend," said head coach John Hedlund. " We really seemed to all come together at the right time and play at a high level. I'm very proud to continue the winning streak, not only for this team, but for all of the former players and coaches that have now been a part of 23 consecutive winning seasons."

Since losing to Texas 1-0 on August 27th, North Texas have gone now nine consecutive matches without a loss.

During this nine-match unbeaten streak, North Texas has shutout five opponents and outscored its opponents 29-6.

Bruffett's two goals come on the heel of her missing five matches due to an injury.

"Being out on injury was hard but coming out and getting the goals will give me some confidence," Bruffett said. "Getting the win though is what was most important. I think we're hungry and confident. At the start of the year we were a younger and inexperienced team."

The shutout was North Texas' seventh this season, surpassing last season's total. It's the most shutouts the program has had in a season since 2015 when they ended the year with a record-setting 16 shutouts.

Nolan scored the game's opening goal in the 10th minute, while Natalie Newell added the other.
