After 103 scoreless minutes, Stavros Zarokostas sent a pass from Chae Brangman past La Salle's Mark Tobin and into the bottom right corner for the 1-0 Rhode Island victory.
It marked the second game in a row that Zarokostas nets the game-winning goal for Rhode Island.
The victory keeps Rhode Island atop the Atlantic 10 standings at 3-0-0 in conference and 7-2-2 overall.
Rhode Island are now unbeaten (6-0-2) over their last eight games. La Salle, meanwhile, drops to 4-7-1 (0-3-0 A-10).
Rhode Island Senior goalkeeper Nils Leifhelm made a season-high nine saves on the night, en route to his sixth clean sheet of the season. With 21 career shutouts, Leifhelm is now tied with Mark Bryant for second-most in program history.
Sophomore Zarokostas scored his second game-winning goal of the week and fourth of his career. He now has 33 career points (13g/7a) in 31 games played for the Rams.
Junior Brangman assisted on the goal by Zarokostas, picking up his third assist of the season.
Zarokostas and Brangman are now tied for the team lead in total points with 13 each. Both players have five goals and three assists on the season.
