Bascome & Bristol City Draw with Birmingham City

IslandStats.com
Osagi Bascome and his Bristol City Under 23 teammates twice battled back from deficits to earn a last-minute 2-2 draw at Birmingham City.

Clayton Donaldson provided key experience for the home team and it was the striker who broke the deadlock after just seven minutes.

Steve Seddon fed the ball to Donaldson – who had often done the damage for the first team against City – and he made no mistake firing past Jojo Wollacott.

City were better after halftime and levelled when Jack Challis sent Freddie Hinds dashing clear to drill the ball beyond Connal Truman in the home goal.

Parity didn’t last long as Birmingham went back in front six minutes later, Charlie Lakin squeezing the ball home from an acute angle with a powerful shot.

City pressed and pressed for an equalizer, eventually getting their reward in the fifth minute of added on time.

Joe McNulty saw his free kick charged down, but was the first to the follow up and lashed in via a deflection to ensure a share of the spoils.

Coach Alex Ball said, “The players showed great spirit and determination to comeback twice in the game.

“It was unfortunate to go behind again so soon after the first equaliser because we had begun the second half so well and were really in the ascendancy.

“A draw was the least we deserved so I’m delighted for the lads.”
