Parfitt Meets Old Rival in Scotland

IslandStats.com
With a break in the Commonwealth Games and being the First Day of the 2014 Cup Match Classic, www.islandstats.com was able to reunite two former Cup Match Players.

Clarence Parfitt and Campbell Simons have not seen each other for a number of years, but with the Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, and Simons attending with his wife Judy Simons the President of the Bermuda Olympic Association, we were able to let the old friends meet up.

Parfitt on his way home from training with the Scotland Under 19 National Cricket Team, was able to meet Simons on the road side and the pair immediately began to speak about the old days.

Both men shared concerns for cricket and the Cup Match Classic.

Parfitt without a doubt has been the Annual Cup Match Classic most talked about cricketer, he played his first match in 1965 and his last in 1981.

Parfitt batted a total of 19 times, with 9 not out’s, he scored a total of 17 runs, with 18 being his highest, but what he is remembered for is the 598.5 overs, 193 maidens, 1,245 runs and the 115 wickets he captured during his time, he also held onto 8 catches.

Simons played his first Cup Match in 1966 and his last in 1978, he went to bat 21 times with 1 not out being his last, he scored a total of 472 runs and his highest 111 not out. He bowled 1 over in the Classic giving up 14 runs, as a wicketkeeper Simons held onto 7 catches and he had 1 Stumping.
