Over the past few weeks, the talk around Bermuda has been a court ruling on the Belongers who won the right to represent Bermuda in International Sporting Competition, the UK Overseas Territories Committee has been conducting an inquiry into “how the Foreign Office manages its responsibility to ensure the security and stability” of the British Overseas Territories, with numerous people making submissions and the Committee holding hearings.
The witnesses for the most recent session were Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN Lord Tariq Ahmad and Ben Merrick, who serves as the Director of Overseas Territories in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The Subject of Belongers came up during the hearings, although it did not refer to Sports the Minister of State for the Commonwealth commented that he is leaving the decision up to the Governments to decide the rule of law on the issue.
