Saltus Grammar School were crowned the Over 13 Champions at the conclusion of the Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Six-A-Side Championships at Shelly Bay Field.
Saltus held off feisty T.N. Tatem, winning the Final on Penalties after the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1. Christian Lugo Elibox had given Saltus the lead with a spectacular effort, controlling a pass from Matthew Moreno and slamming the ball past T.N. Tatem goalkeeper Marco Basden late in their first half.
Stefan Simmons equalized from the penalty spot midway through the second half, neither team could find the back of the net during regulation time. Saltus had also defeated Sandys Secondary Middle School on penalties after a scoreless Semi-Final. T.N. Tatem advanced after a Sudden Death Penalty shootout win over Whitney in the other Semi Final. Omeek Smith had given Whitney an early lead in the first minute of the game. Tatem weathered a Whitney onslaught on goal for the remainder of the half. Minutes after Basden saved a penalty Simmons scored from the spot to level things for T.N. Tatem who got themselves into the match.
The Whitney Institute defeated Dellwood Middle School 1-0 in the Under 13 Final. The close match was decided by an own goal. Both finalists reached the finals through penalty shootouts after scoreless draws. Dellwood defeated Mount Saint Agnes while Whitney edged by Saltus.
