Teachers Fight Night at the Berkeley Institute Gymnasium got underway, with a full slate of fights on tap.
The night featured the WBC World Middleweight Boxing Championship rematch between Teresa Perrozi and Tori Nelson.
It was back on October 13th, 2012 at the conclusion of the Perozzi and Nelson - All or Nothing WBC Middleweight Title fight that was declared a draw many wanted the pair to square off again.
They did just that, on a night were both were looking to establish a rhythm early, the pair took their time in the first round feeling each other out, but the third round had the fans on their feet.
First Nelson landed a blow that sent Perozzi to the canvas, Perozzi was able to get back on her feet and although a little unsteady, Perozzi was able to land a hard blow to Nelson that sent her to the canvas.
With both fighters now been down, the fighters went in search of that knockout punch to ended it all, however it never came.
In the end both fighters won the fight on one judges scorecard, while another judge scored the bout a draw as the WBC Belt still remains vacant.
Nikki Bascome put on a show outscoring his opponent from Virginia Matthew Abregu, while American Christopher Gooch defeated Andre Lambe on points as well.
Jashaun Thomas defeated his American opponent Jose Israel Flores on points, while Stefan Dill out boxed Shannon Ford on his way to winning their fight on points.
Even with a bloody nose Stephen Wright done enough to defeat Diandre Burgess on points, this was just after Reyel Bowen won his fight on a Technical Knock Out over Justin Tucker.
Corey Boyce and Trey Simons entertained the crowd with some hard punches land, with Boyce coming away with a point’s decision, while Tariq Lynchwade defeated Brian Flynn on points as well.
Bernard Opoku’s bout the second fight of the night ended when David McHugh could not continue with Opoku winning on a Technical Knock Out, while Le-Jai Tucker scored a points decision over Andrew Haye in the opening fight of the night.
