Members of the Bermuda Gymnastics team were back in action at the USAIGC (United States and International Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs) World Tournament going on in Orlando, Florida at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel.
Mya Furbert-Jacob competed in the Bronze Finals finishing off her 2016 Worlds performance once again on top of the podium. Furbert-Jacob earned a 3rd place on Floor and the title of 2016 Beam Champion in her level after placing first on Beam in Finals. Furbert-Jacob will add these two medals to her Gold and Silver performances at the Rhythmic World Competition for a total of 4 top and her best performance to date at Worlds.
Teammates Daria Symonds and Kayo George both competed in the Bronze Finals and had top 10 finishes in here Vault finals before stealing the show and placing 1, 2 on the podium in the Floor Final with George claiming the Silver Medal with a score of 9.45 and Symonds earning the Gold Medal and title of 2016 World Champion on Floor in her age category with a score of 9.50. This brings Symonds total medal count to 4 Gold medals across her Artistic and Rhythmic Competitions in Orlando.
Evening Session
12 yr old, Jezhari Talbot
Jezhari Talbot was in the Silver Level Qualification and All Around Finals, which she put in her best showing at World Championships to date. This is the first year Talbot has competed in the upgraded level. With a mix of difficult skills and artistic performance she stunned the judges and qualified her way into both Beam and Floor Finals. Talbot finished 9th all around out of 42 amazing competitors and looks forward to the event Finals.
