The police have now officially named the man who was murdered this morning as Osagi Bascome, who was one of the island’s most talented footballers.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, the police confirmed they have launched a murder investigation and have appealed for anyone with information to please contact them.
The death of Bascome saw the Bermuda Football Association postpone matches on Saturday, and also postpone the St. George’s Colts vs. Somerset Trojans match schedule for Sunday.
The talented footballer played professionally overseas with clubs including Bristol City and Darlington FC, and Darlington FC tweeted the photo below and said, “The club is devastated to learn of the passing of former player Osagi Bascome. Osagi joined the club in 2019 playing a memorable role in our FA Cup tie at Walsall. Everyone from the club’s thoughts are with Osagi’s family and friends.”
