2018 World Equestrian Games Underway

Mill Spring, North Carolina, joined one of the most exclusive clubs on the planet as the 2018 World Equestrian Games got underway.

The event’s opening ceremonies featured acts from country music singers Joe Lasher and Hunter Hayes, along with the landing of a parachute demonstration team timed to coincide with the end of Emma Hayes’ national anthem performance.

Marvin Brangman was the Bermuda Flagbearer for the ceremony.

Over the next 12 days, a scenic site near the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina is set to become the capital of the horse sports world, as the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games take place at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. More than 1,300 elite riders and horses in eight disciplines are expected in the U.S., as Games officials monitor hurricane risks offshore
