Bermuda Karate Organization fielded a strong team in Reston, Virginia. Goju, Shotokan and Uechi karate styles and Chinese kungfu were represented.
Among the Juniors eleven year old Dominique Brown placed third in both Intermediate Forms and Weapons and first in sparring, winning her final match 5/4. Other juniors in 9 to 11 years old beginner forms were Khwai Mendoza second, Amira Strong third, and Amiel Trott finalist.
Five year old Amarriah Vaughans placed third with beginners in her age group. For beginners 6 to 8 years old Etienne Strong and Massandra Vaughans were both finalists in a group of 15.
Intermediate Callahj Simons was second among a similarly large division of 6 to 8 year olds. Kianna Vaughans was double third with Amira Strong in beginners 6 to 8.
Among the adults, Kaelin Cox placed first in Chinese forms and first in weapons, second in sparring. In the over 40 forms, Andrea McKey was first in women’s traditional forms and second in both traditional and open weapons. Eugene Simmons took third in over 40 men’s traditional forms.
Also attending for BKO were President Skipper Ingham, Vice President Gladwin Phillips and Secretary Kristina Ingham.
