The powerful 7.1 Earthquake that rocked Central Mexico on Tuesday, collapsing homes and bridges across hundreds of miles, has forced the cancellation of the Central American And Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding And Fitness Championships.
President of the Bermuda Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation Mark Simons said, “The 45th edition of the CAC Championships slated for Mexico City, from September 29th to October 2nd, had been cancelled in the wake of the more than 200 deaths this week.”
“It is sad news. The athletes would have put in a lot of hard work over the past few months and this must be tough. We had planned to take 13 athletes and I know for sure they would have made plenty of sacrifices in order to take their physiques to the next level,” continued Simons.
Simons concluded, “We are looking into other events that we could possibly enter our athletes, but we should have an answer in the next few day’s.”
