Canada defeated Bermuda by eight wickets at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club to maintain its hopes of qualifying for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup.
Bermuda won the toss and elected to bat, which was about the last thing that went right for it all day. Not a single one of its batsman made it into double figures as the team slid to 44 all out – the top score was Rudi Butterfield’s 7.
It marks the end of a campaign in which Bermuda have lost all four of its games by large margins. The side will be especially disappointed by its performance with the bat – its highest team total was a mere 103/8 against USA. The state of affairs is summed up by the performance of Ras Burrows. His half-century in Bermuda’s first fixture was their only half-century in the competition, and despite the fact that he went on to register ducks in all three of his remaining knocks, he still finished the competition as his country’s highest run getter.
