Joe Horowitz Won the 2011 Gosling’s Invitational and the first place $12,000 check. North Carolina resident Gray Yancey won the Open Amateur Title and Eric “Hav” Trott turned back the clock to capture the Senior’s title.

Professional Division

Three years ago Horowitz shared the trophy with Mike Donald in a battle that ended up finishing in the dark. As a result both players agreed to share the Trophy. Horowitz will have none of that this time around and came to Bermuda with one thing on mind, to win the title outright. After blistering the course on the first day with a 6 under 64 it was clear that this was going to be a special week.

Battling the elements and without question, the strongest Professional field in quite some time, Horowitz showed the grit of a true champion. Having to return to the course at 7am to complete the third round and then go straight back out to finish the final round, Horowitz kept his calm to finish the tournament 1-under 279 to take home the winner’s check and the E. Malcolm Gosling’s Sr. Trophy. Canadian Professional Nick Kenney posted a remarkable 67 final round to give himself a fighting chance, however it was not to be. Bermudian Professional Daniel Augustus posted a 2-under 68 final round to pull himself into third place overall and had it not been for a 8 on 18 during the first round, Augustus will have to wonder if this was a tournament that got away.

Junior Amateur

North Carolina resident Gray Yancey captured the prestigious Low Amateur Title on his first try. Yancey played consistently all week and kept his cool in the end to keep his competitors at bay. Chris Garland posted a respectable 78 in his final round which proved to be good enough to take home the runner up trophy. Steven Duxbury rounded out the prizes by securing 3rd place.

Net Division – Open Amateur

Michael Wells capped off a fine week to take home top NET honors. Wells played consistently all week and finished the event at 3 under net and a comfortable 7 shots ahead of his nearest rival. Shannon Trott played beautiful golf however could not keep the momentum going in the final round finishing 2nd net overall. San Bezant gets 3rd place honors.

Senior Amateur

Hav Trott reigns supreme once again adding a senior title to the “overall title” he won a few years ago. Trott pushed back the clock on day two with a 2 under 68 and kept the momentum going in the final two rounds. Trott finished at 16 over par and 8 shots clear of his nearest rival. Max Atherden technically finished runner up, however he opted to take home the Net Honors. This left the way for 4 time defending Champion, Jeffrey Lindo to finish in the runner up spot. Lindo was chasing an unprecedented 5th straight title but unfortunately he was unable to match the consistent play of Trott or Atherden. US Resident Glenn Kelly secured third place. Kelley however admitted that this was not his finest performance and had it not been for a hard fought 3rd round he may have easily finished higher up. Thomas Smith took home 4th place honors.

Net Division – Senior Amateur

Max Atherden captured the net title by a slim one shot lead at 4-under par. In second place was Renalda Bean who played brilliantly all week to give himself a chance. Florida resident, Jim Vaughan battled a sore leg throughout the week but still managed to finish 3rd overall.
