Five new athletes met the Bermuda Carifta Games Standards at the National Sports Center, but there was heartbreak for another athlete.
Ashley Irby who had met the Qualifying Standard early in the Season has been withdrawn from the team after doctors have confirmed she has unfortunately torn her Quad Muscle.
Four of the athletes who Qualified on the day came during the 3000 meter race, while the other met the standard in Long Jump.
During the Under 18 Girls Long Jump Zekiah Lewis who has come close on many occasions put a good effort in and met the 5.45m Carifta Standard with a leap of 5.51m.
During the Under 20 Girls 3000 Meter Run Brianna Mendes beat the Carifta Standard time of 11:15.00, when she was clocked in 11:14.06.
With a Standard set time of 9:45.00 for the Under 18 Boys 3000 Meter Run, three met the Standard. Johndell Cumberbatch who has burst on the scene of late clocked 9:27.74, Quincy Kuzyk clocked a time of 9:29.90 and Ryan Outerbridge finished third with a time of 9:39.06.
