IslandStats.com
The Minister of Social Development and Sports Michael Weeks arrived back on the island and congratulated athlete Sakari Famous for her Bronze Medal performance during the Under 20 Girls High Jump at the CARIFTA Games in the Bahamas.

Minister Weeks said, “Sakari did an excellent job, her performance was simply outstanding. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to cheer her on from the side-lines as she completed her top leap of 1.79m.

"I also want to congratulate several athletes who achieved their Personal Best at the Games including Deneo Brangman, Clevonte Lodge, Ashley Irby and Amelia Othman. It takes a great deal of training, dedication and determination to get to where all these athletes are today and I want to offer them a heartfelt congratulations for all their efforts; they do us proud.

"In addition, I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the hard work and gallant effort of all athletes - Taylor Hines, Robert Edwards Jr., Elisha Darrell, Jessie Marshall, Tilda Norman, Ryan Outerbridge, Johndell Cumberbatch and Isabelle Dutranoit."

Minister Weeks attended the stadium every day and said he was very proud to watch Bermuda's young athletes compete and represent the island at the CARIFTA 2018 Games.

On Sunday April 1st, Minister Weeks had the opportunity to meet with Bahamian Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Hubert Minnis MP and the Bahamian Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Michael Pintard MP at the stadium. Minister Weeks also had the honour of presenting medals to the winners of the Under 17 Girls 3000m competition.
