Senior Dage Minors of the Franklin Pierce University Men's Track & Field team has been named the Outdoor Season's East Region Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced by the USTFCCCA.
It is the first outdoor selection as East Region Track Athlete of the Year for Minors, who was also the USTFCCCA's selection for the award each of the last two indoor seasons. Across the nation's eight regions, he was one of four men to pick up both indoor and outdoor Track Athlete of the Year awards in 2016-17.
Minors heads into the NCAA Championships holding the region's fastest time and the nation's seventh-fastest time in the 800 meters. He posted a mark of 1:49.39 on April 21st, at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University.
Minors will open pursuit of his fifth career All-America selection on Friday, May 26th, in the preliminary heats of the 800 meters. The NCAA Championships will be hosted by the University of Tampa and IMG Academy on May 25th-27th at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
