Amali Smith and her Wilberforce University (Ohio) Women’s Basketball teammates went down in the home opener by 2 points to Kentucky State University.
Kentucky State University emerged victorious 60 – 58, Kentucky State University would lead 11 – 8 at the end of the first quarter, Kentucky State University would outscore Wilberforce 23 – 12 in the second quarter to take a 34 – 20 lead to the break.
Wilberforce would stage a comeback in the third quarter scoring 21 points and restricted Kentucky State University to just 13 to make the score 47 – 41 with one quarter to play.
In the final quarter Wilberforce would outscore Kentucky State University 17 – 13 but fell those 2 points short.
Nia McCormick led Wilberforce in the scoring department with 14 points, while Smith would hit her only shot of the game which was a three-pointer in the 6 minutes she played.
