The 2016/17 Bermuda Island Basketball League season tipped off inside the Cedarbridge Gymnasium with a double header that produced 170 points.
The opening points of the season were scored by Steven Simons of the Tsunami’s who are a new team to the League, they recorded a 46 - 33 win over the Rimrockers. Johnny Lugo and Dean Jones scored 10 points each in the win, while Dave Middleton scored 8 points for the Rimrockers.
Game Two featured another new team, but they did not start the season with a win, the Island Ballers went down to Twisters 53 - 38, Girki Clark was the top scorer for the Twisters with 16 points, while the Island Ballers were led by Rajiz Mallory with 8 points.
