Oxford-based Bermudian gymnast, Aria Divine, has secured her second All-Around National Champion Title in the Independent Gymnastics Association (IGA) Level 8 National Championship.
The 10-year-old athlete who began her gymnastics career at Bermuda Gymnastics Association (BGA) at age four is making a name for herself in the United Kingdom. Divine moved to England with her family in 2018 and joined Miss Poppy's Gymnastics club in 2020.
The IGA held its Level 8 National Championship at the Kingston Gymnastics Centre in Milton Keynes.
At the event, Divine competed on all four apparatus for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics events: Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor. Divine, who competes in the 2012 Junior category, secured two Gold Medals (Beam and Bars), one Silver Medal (Floor), and one Bronze Medal (Vault) with impressive scores across each apparatus, including a 13.750 on Floor, 13.150 on Beam, 12.350 on Bars and 11.600 on Vault, giving her an overall score of 50.850.
As the only competitor to secure a score in excess of 50.000 across the entire event - which included more than 200 gymnasts from across England - Divine won the All-Around National Champion title in her age category as well as the highest overall score out of all gymnasts in the Level 8 National Championship event.
The competition was Divine’s third appearance at the IGA Championships, and only her second to compete on all four apparatus. However, the young athlete is no stranger to topping the podium. In her first full competition last year, she secured the All-Around Level 9 National Champion title for her age category as well as obtained the highest overall score of 47.60 in the 2021 Level 9 and 10 National Championships event where over 150 gymnasts competed. In the competition, Divine took scores of 13.20 on Floor, 12.15 on Beam, 11.40 on Vault, and 10.85 on Bars which led to two Golds (Floor and Beam), one Silver (Bars) and one Bronze Medal (Vault).
Divine is in Year 5 at St. Christopher's CE Primary School in Oxford and also represents her school in Football, Athletics and Cross Country competitions.
